MGCA Participates in Strategic JET Retreat to Advance Just Energy Transition Objectives

The Mpumalanga Green Cluster Agency (MGCA) participated in a two-day Just Energy Transition (JET) Retreat held in Johannesburg from 6 to 7 November 2025. Hosted by the JET Project Management Unit (PMU) in the Presidency, the retreat brought together key stakeholders and implementing partners to enhance coordination and accelerate delivery of South Africa’s JET objectives.

Strengthening Alignment Across the JET Ecosystem

Day one featured strategic updates from the JET PMU dashboard and Funding Platform, providing a comprehensive overview of progress, funding mechanisms, and coordination efforts. Lead institutions, including MGCA, the IDC, DHET, SALGA, Eskom, and the Department of Energy and Electricity, presented progress reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and priorities for the coming year.

A central theme throughout the discussions was the need for integrated collaboration across institutions to maximize the collective impact of JET initiatives.

Building Delivery Capability for Impact

Day two included a keynote session on the core elements of high-performing delivery units, introducing the “4Ps Framework: Priority, People, Problem-Solving, and Performance.” The session emphasized translating strategy into action, leveraging data for decision-making, and strengthening institutional delivery capabilities.

Conclusion

The retreat provided a valuable platform for reflection, alignment, and planning. MGCA’s active participation reaffirmed its commitment to driving green innovation and inclusive development in Mpumalanga. As South Africa advances its Just Energy Transition, such collaborative engagements remain essential to achieving systemic impact and delivering tangible community benefits.
