Mpumalanga Green Cluster Agency Participates in Premier’s Imbizo and Executive Council Outreach
The Mpumalanga Green Cluster Agency (MGCA) recently honored an invitation from the Office of the Premier to participate in the Executive Council’s Outreach Programme and the Premier’s Imbizo, hosted in Wakkerstroom and Vukuzakhe.
The events drew an impressive turnout, with community members eager to engage directly with government departments, entities, and agencies.
The Executive Mayor of Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality, Councillor B.J. Mhlanga, warmly welcomed the delegation, which included the Premier of Mpumalanga, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu, Members of the Executive Council, and various institutional representatives. In his remarks, the Executive Mayor expressed deep appreciation for the Premier’s visit, stressing the importance of government leaders listening to community concerns and working hand in hand with residents to develop lasting solutions.
Several Members of the Executive Council (MECs) were present, including Ms. S. Manzini (Health), Ms. J. Sidell (Economic Development and Tourism), and Ms L. Masina (Education). Their participation highlighted the provincial government’s commitment to tackling service delivery challenges and advancing socioeconomic development at the grassroots level.
In his keynote address, Premier Ndlovu expressed gratitude to the executive mayor, traditional leaders, councillors, and his cabinet for their support. Reflecting on his previous visit in 2022, he recalled the challenges raised at the time, among them inadequate sanitation, reliance on the bucket toilet system, persistent water shortages, limited RDP housing, and high unemployment.
The premier outlined progress made since then, including the implementation of a sewer reticulation network in Ward 1 of Vukuzakhe and the refurbishment of local playgrounds to improve recreational spaces for young people. He also announced that mobile classrooms would be deployed to Vukuzenzele Combined School to address overcrowding and enhance learning conditions.
Following his formal remarks, Premier Ndlovu engaged in open dialogue with residents, listening attentively to their ongoing challenges. The interactive session allowed community members to voice concerns and contribute to shaping practical solutions.
This engagement reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to making Vukuzakhe and the wider Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality a more inclusive, responsive, and prosperous community for all residents.
The MGCA welcomed the opportunity to participate in these important platforms, which not only strengthen collaboration between government and communities but also provide valuable insights into aligning green economy initiatives with local development priorities.
