Enterprise Development Seminar and Exhibition for SMMEs and Cooperatives
The Mpumalanga Green Cluster Agency (MGCA) proudly participated in the Enterprise Development Seminar and Exhibition for SMMEs and Cooperatives, hosted by the Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) earlier this week.
Held at the Sabie Town Hall in the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality, the event served as a vital platform for information sharing, networking, and empowerment. A wide range of stakeholders, including DTIC, SABS, CIPC, and the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency, delivered insightful presentations aimed at equipping entrepreneurs with knowledge about business support services, compliance, funding, and market access opportunities.
As part of the programme, MGCA highlighted the green economy as a growing and high-potential sector for small businesses and cooperatives. Entrepreneurs were encouraged to explore opportunities in renewable energy, waste management, climate-smart agriculture, and circular economy innovations—all critical components of a just and sustainable transition.
The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Makhosazana Masilela, the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, who reaffirmed the department’s commitment to supporting SMMEs and cooperatives as drivers of economic transformation and inclusive growth. She emphasized that such engagements not only impart essential skills and knowledge but also provide a valuable gauge of the awareness levels among small enterprises regarding available government and private sector programmes.
MGCA remains committed to working with the government and partners to ensure that green enterprise development becomes a meaningful lever for inclusive, sustainable economic development in Mpumalanga.
